“Yes, but you can’t see a doctor for 4 weeks. He’s busy.”
“Huh? I hope in the next month no-one’s ill.”
“Me too!”
I get regular health checks from UKs brilliant free health service. Checks give peace of mind or an early health warning before conditions get serious. In my case, they never find anything wrong. Bit disappointing really. I made the doc's appointment for the end of April, disappointed I couldn't get the results immediately.
Sometimes we’re "guided", or synchronicity occurs. On this occasion, as I put the phone down, a picture of a roast dinner with seven vegetables popped into mind, followed by a picture of a restaurant.
The restaurant was newly decorated, but empty. I’d almost finished when a voice said, “Hello Allan.” It was my doctor! Great - I'll ask for my test results!
“I bought this restaurant” my doctor said, “for my brother-in-law, but it's not busy. We need a marketing consultant”.
If I chat for a long time, I'll get bloods results after. I'll offer marketing advice.
I'm not sure he'll try a monthly special of frog's legs and chips, but he liked other ideas. "We'll do some of your suggestions." my doctor said.
Great. One good turn deserves another. “I needed blood tests results this morning, but you’re busy for a month.”
“Yes," he replied. "Busy with this restaurant. Don't worry, I’ll phone you with the results tomorrow morning.”
For the next two hours we discussed the changing the UK health care structure. http://www.bma.org.uk/healthcare_policy/nhs_white_paper/gpcwhitepaperguidance.jsp#.T3d_F_CmgT8
"I'm on the CCG, the new Clinical Commissioning Group," he said, "set up to commission therapies and services."
Brilliant - I've been seeking a way in to the new CCGs. “Brilliant,” I said. “I've presented at the House of Lords... a new tiered structure to integrate complementary and alternative interventions with your interventions.”
“Doctors won’t go for it,” he said. “There’s no money available.”
“They will go for it. It could save billions of pounds!”
“In that case, here’s the name of the head doctor in charge. Mention my name. He’s a good guy, a Christian.”
Guidance, or synchronicity again! If I'd had bloods results at once, would I have eaten at that restaurant? Maybe. And would I have spent so long chatting to my doctor in order to get such positive outcomes? Maybe not.
