Last Wednesday hailstones fell, literally in bucket-loads. A corner of the roof smashed off, three other roof areas damaged and leaked. Outside, hailstones were a metre deep – stick your arm in, and lumps of ice were almost up to shoulder height!! The shingled drive had gouges torn out. Shingle washed to the promenade below. Local drainage systems couldn’t cope with so much hailstones and torrential rain, so drains blocked or overflowed with sewerage.
Acts of God don’t always seem Godly. And they didn’t smell Godly on this occasion! Sewerage overflowed from outside drains into the kitchen, halls, dining room, and gym, even into the cherub toilet. Countless local properties were damaged or flooded too. At least insurance should cover the damage.
As a positive person, I’m still trying to find the positive in all this. Hopefully I’ll find out soon...?
