Opportunities for creating happiness are only limited by imagination.
Last week with friends, I visited a World Food Day event. Brilliant truffle chocolates given away free by the Co-op certainly made me happy. "I'm lucky at raffles," I said to the lady in her 80s selling tickets. "In the last two, I won a giant TV set, and a bottle of whisky."
"Whisky?" said the elderly lady. "I used to love a glass of whisky. But I can't afford it now."
"The bottle's still in the car. Would you like a small glass?"
She licked her lips, unconsciously remembering her love for the taste of whisky. "Only a small one?" she grinned.
It was the sight of her lip-licking memory that made me borrow a plastic mug, go to the car, and pour out an extra large, quadruple Scotch. Her face on seeing it was a wonderful mix of pleasure and surprise.
"Oh you're an angel!" she exclaimed.
"Maybe you're not wrong," I smiled.
She looked at my friends. "That's the first time my wish has come true. That's love! He's an angel in disguise."
"Maybe there's more truth in that than you know," I laughed. She avidly smelled the Scotch aroma. We left her as she savoured the first sip with a broad happy smile that seemed set to last for ages. :-)
It's not important how we being happiness, only that we try to...
