Thanks to all who asked if I'm OK, due to my lack of blogging.
Life sometimes takes us down paths of glory - or gory. Apologies to all regular readers for lack of recent blogs - my life's been through a period of gory. Not in a physically bloody sense, more in a sense of being so busy it's been Gruesome and Grisly busy-type of gory.
"Decorating" is a polite word for what I've done to a 4-bedroomed house I rent out. Perhaps you'll understand if I say that tradesmen etc I've had to employ include, in alphabetical order,
1. Carpenter (to make new panelling in kitchen where a pipe had burst and destroyed it, and to box in pipes)
2. Carpet fitter (to refit carpets and vinyl floor coverings)
3. Cleaner (to go throughout house)
4. Electrician (for safety check and install new anti-moisture lights to bathroom and shower room)
5. Flooring screeder (to level uneven floors ready for covering)
6. Furniture removals (to give away or dump furniture previous tenant left behind)
7. Gardener friend (to weed and display in garden)
8. Labourer (to smash up and bag up ceramic floor tiles)
9. Maintenance man (to re-fix kitchen doors, make grill at front door, re-hang doors properly etc)
10. Materials purchases (to ensure quantity and quality is appropriate)
11. Painters and decorators (to repaint almost the whole house)
12. Plasterers (to repair damaged ceilings and walls)
13. Plumber (to re-route water supply, replace cracked toilet, fix second toilet a previous tenant had broken etc)
14. Roofers (for three leaks due to a storm last month)
15. Van hire (to take rubbish to dump or to storage)
16. Window repairs (for sash windows)
To ensure good jobs at reasonable prices, I've needed three estimates for everything. If you've everv done that, you know how long that takes!!! (Yes, three exclamation marks!!!)
Even then, I've had to "say goodbye" to a number of "tradesmen" who seemed professional, but were awful.
I've done much more than the incoming tenant asked for or needed. They only wanted the roof repaired from the storm damage! But spiritual nature overlaps into everyday life. That includes being the best landlord a tenant could have.
So that been my full time job for a while. Normal service will be resumed shortly, with more spiritual, healing, therapy, psychic and social posts, that are weird and wonderful, classic and curious, and mystical and magical :-)
